On Monday the Bush adminstration lawyer told a judge in Detroit that the president's warrantless domestic spying is legal and constittuional, but he refused to say why. The judge should just take his word for it, the president's lawyer said, "because merely talking about it would endanger America."
On Tuesday, reminding us that it will be politics as usual this coming November: meaning nasty and disgusting, Karl Rove delivered talking points to Republican strategists. Among them: " The Democrats could never have summoned the will to kill Mr. Zarqawi."
On Thursday, asked about the fact that we've now hit the 2,500th American death in Iraq, White House press secretary Tony Snow told reporters, "It's a number."
