Damn, Joe Lieberman makes me sick. If there was any doubt left that the soon to be ex-Senator Lieberman has turned Bush Republican, his response to yesterday's primary election shows us that he is now completely a creature of Neo-America.
Lieberman responded to his legal, voter-decided defeat by arrogantly declaring: "For the sake of our state, our country and my party, I cannot and will not let that result stand." Huh? When did our politicians turn their backs on the election process? Oh, right in 2000 and then again in 2004. Fix, cut, snip, discard, overturn...the voters be damned.
Connecticut Democrats, clearly feeling betrayed by their Bush sycophant Senator and the abomination of the American misadventure in Iraq, have voted to replace Lieberman with a real Democrat.
But Lieberman will put pride and power lust above constitutional law and democracy and trump up a petition that will enable him to run as an independent in the November election. The Democratic leadership is begging him to step down. The voters fired him. But Lieberman, no doubt another religious nut who gets his advice from a supernatural voice will attempt to Bush his way through defeat.
Lusting for more ways to betray his constituents and his party, Lieberman will defy the Democratic party and work to get on the November ballot as an independent, thus splitting the non-Republican voters sufficiently to turn his state over to a new Republican Senator. Bush must have promised him a first class seat on the Rapture train.
From this day forward, let us call Sen. Lieberman simply "Joe Who?"
